This site was created to help parents research special education services at school districts across the United States.
Parents with special needs children often move, and choosing a new district can be a daunting task, especially if you don't know anybody in the new city. Sometimes you are compelled to move because of work, and you do not have time to research new cities. Other times parents choose to move (as we did) in order to move into a district that will provide the services your child needs.
We hope this site because a compelling resource to help parents make positive decisions for their children.
About the Creator of this Site
I am a mom of a child who has special needs. He has an IEP with various services and accommodations, included a shared aide in the classroom. I am purposely not saying our names in order to preserve his privacy.
The first district we were part of was a horrible experience. We ended up having to hire a lawyer to get our son services. We purposely moved to a small town in California because we heard the district was phenomenal at providing special needs services. We were thrilled to find out this was true!
Sometimes parents ask me about how to choose a new district when they are looking to move. Unfortunately I have very limited knowledge about districts outside those I have had experience with. So I created this site in hopes other parents would share their knowledge -- the good and the bad -- so this site could be a resource for parents looking to make a move and hopefully find their child a better education.
